About Morris dancers on a car bonnet
(geddit?).
He was on top form, taking the 7th
of June in his stride,
Proud and happy as father of the bride.
The shoes – maybe from Clinkard’s in
Middlesbrough –
Were a big departure from his usual
blacks and browns.
He was dapper as ever but with that
neat footwear quirk
Rounding off his outfit, sharp, grey
suit - it did kinda work.
By intention or accident, he
upstaged us all, except you.
This was our day but really your day
to glow and sparkle,
To shine a light on the path ahead
of us, companions,
Adventurers, bound together from the
moment we said “I do.”
